After my Buller Marathon attempt, I needed a wee break from training as I got stuck into some work project both for Qwik Kiwi and my ‘day job’. I didn’t do much training the first week after the race, but this week I got back into activity in the second half of the week.
This week’s training was based around spending time with my partner and doing each session with her. We kicked things off with a group mountain bike ride with some of her workmates and friends on Thursday. We went for a wee ride up Codger’s Mountain Bike Park in Nelson. We rode up to Turner’s, had a blat down that then up Take Me To Your Leader then rode up and did Top Dog before looping around and riding back down Hulken Hogan.
We followed this up the following day with a very similar ride, although just the two of us this time, and a few more Strava records for myself.
Saturday saw us head out to Kaiteriteri for a wee jaunt around the park out there. We rode down a track we hadn’t ridden (bottom of Tapu) after doing our usual climb up to top of Jaws and having some fun on Big Airs.
On Sunday we went for an adventure up from Glenduan over to Cable Bay. Although we didn’t decsend down into Cable Bay, we enjoyed the views and then made our way back as quick as we could.
