Thursday Training Plan: 24 Week Coast To Coast Training Plan

When you cross the finish line in New Brighton, you will have accomplished something very special.

Designed for Beginner multisport athletes who are looking to complete their first Coast to Coast event, the primary goal of this training plan is to prepare you to COMPLETE YOUR Coast To Coast.

Crafted by myself, Ray Boardman PGDipSportsMed, PGDipRehab, PGCertSc (Exercise Science), BSc (Anatomy), DipSportsStudies this plan encapsulates my passion for the sport, my experience from completing dozens of endurance events and my success coaching hundreds of triathletes and multisport athletes.

Starting 24 weeks before the Coast to Coast (on 27-Aug-18), this plan progresses through phases to build you to your peak performance. Each week typically contains 2x paddles, 2-3x runs, 2 cycle rides. Although not necessary, I recommend using a heart rate monitor in conjunction with a GPS watch (such as a Garmin).

Prior to using this plan, you should be able to complete the following workouts:

  • Bike: 2:00hr,
  • Run: 1:30hr, and
  • Kayak: 1:00hr.
