UltraHumps and Missing Out On Easter Eggs

Hi Team and welcome to Blog # 40.

Gee the weekly blogs are flying by and the date of the ‘1‘ for my 3+2+1=Charity is getting closer.  The ‘1‘ being Ultraman Australia during the period 13-15 May 2017.  This consists of a 10km ocean swim and 140km cycle on Day 1, a 280km cycle on Day 2, plus a double marathon on Day 3.  A total of 515kms over the 3 days.

As you will recall, this is after the ‘3‘ which was ‘3’ consecutive half ironman events over ‘3’ consecutive weekends in December, followed by ‘2‘ full ironman distance events over ‘2’ weeks in late February / early March, and now the Ultraman Australia event as the ‘1‘.

This week I passed the 1 month to go time mark with 4 weeks to go from Easter, so the Easter Eggs were limited for me lol.

My training is back to normal after an eye infection that hindered me for a number of days last week by keeping me out of the pool.  I even had my goggles knocked by another swimmer in the pool this week.  I found the water that seeped in didn’t have an effect on my eyes.  I am pretty happy with that, because my concern was this would be a game stopper at Ultraman, judging by the intensity of the infection I had in both eyes.

The cyclone build up this week meant a decent wet cycle on the bike on Wednesday (drowned rat).  I always train in the rain because if it’s raining on race day you simply have to be used to it, but in stormy winds I avoid the open road on the bike for safety reasons dependent on the strength of the winds.

Well team, not long to go now until the ‘1’ of the ‘3+2+1=Charity’, which brings me to this weeks photos from Ultraman Australia 2016 where I won the Military and Emergency Services Division.

The swim seemed to go on forever, but luckily the water was nice and smooth.  The bike course was nothing but hills to make it interesting, but with a scenery that was amazing as was the run.

If you wish to donate to my charity of the Children of the Fallen Heroes, which is what the 3+2+1=Charity is all about, then please use the enclosed link.  100% of the funds raised goes to the cause.  I am paying all other expenses myself.

Regards John Humphries (Aka UltraHumps, Aka Humps)!

  1. Keep going Humps – I would have thought you were pretty entitled to some Easter eggs with all that training!!
