Lisa’s Journey, Week 23: …Short & Sweet!

I’ve been grumpy, had a breakout and a freakout! Was a ‘no fly zone’ for a bit, but in particular this past week… ugh, which is hard to admit (but I’m keeping it honest). And sometimes for the longest time you can hold your shit together and other times you can’t. But that’s okay. The best part about all this is I look to run or bike to escape ones self! Double thumbs up!

‘In Short’:  My heel seems to be getting worse and those that I’ve talked too, say rest is what helped heal it. REST.  Does my heel not realise the Marlborough Tri is coming up!

I’ve not had acupuncture in a long while, so I am going to try and get in to see Pie for Traditional Acupuncture, and hopefully she can stick some needles in it to help! Fingers crossed!

I’m annoyed because a sore heel is NOT in my training schedule. l’ve been here many a time before, but I have things still to achieve- so one must not stop. Shit happens, and I’m going to have to roll with it.

‘The Sweet’:  I’ve really enjoyed following the Invictus Games.  I love watching such inspiring people.  They keep my aspirations high. Actually, to all you awesome peeps whose achievements I can scroll through on the Qwik Kiwi Coaching page and read about! Even friends and friends of friends out there doing it. Congratulations to the local ladies who won the 6 hour Taupo Spring Challenge. Awesome work!! And our school event ‘Kaikoura Whale Run’ was nominated, and won the Mainpower North Canterbury Sports Award.

I watched a video from Jim Kwik’s Facebook page and the guest speaker said “A habit must be established before it can be improved”. I really like that, and it’s what I’ve built and continue to build my journey on, ‘creating a regular, consistent habit!’ (well I can’t actually take full credit, Ray played a part) I’ve still got lots that I need to create and bad habits I need to stop, but consistency is definitely key.

I had a great bike and my thighs were tired that night – a good feeling!  I had to run today,  ‘because I wanted/needed too’, and my girl came too on her bike.  I enjoyed it, even if it was a bit limpy because of my heel. I feel I’m going to regret it tomorrow morning when I first get out of bed, but Ray’s onto it, I’d swapped a few training sessions around, but for this week he’s taken runs out completely and I’m on my bike.
