Lisa’s Journey, Week 28-34: One, two, miss a few….

Hi Everyone!!! I’m still alive!!

I hope you all had a very merry, relaxing Christmas, with your family and friends and indulged accordingly. Those of you who were nice throughout the 2018 year, I hope Santa was generous!! If not there’s always this year.

And geez,  here we are in 2019. So, Happy New Year! (I feel like the ships sailed on that one somewhat, as we’ve already kissed the first couple of weeks goodbye!) It kinda snuck up on me.

“My goals for 2019 are to accomplish the goals of 2018, which I should have done in 2017 because I promised them in 2015 and planned them in 2014!!” – sound familiar??

This year I didn’t make any ‘resolutions’, because quite frankly my longest  standing New Years resolution has been to lose weight, through eating better and exercise (need I say more)!!  So I’m taking a different approach, because something really isn’t working! I say one thing and seem to do the complete opposite. So, I am going to have a good think about what I’d like to achieve this year and get back to you. Maybe in the next blog –  don’t want to rush into this!

So, whats been going down….

Week 28, came and went much the same as Week 29, however I did force three exercise sessions upon myself.

Week 30, our school did its end of year hike up Mt Fyffe. Unfortunately all the kid’s hard effort was not rewarded with the amazing scenery that there is to be seen, because it fogged in around us. So up to the second lookout, a snack and return. It was a good morning, enjoyed it, but I have not been back since.

Week 31, we’d decided (our Absolute Wilderness team), that we had better do something as a ‘team’ (and because navigation isn’t our forte), that we give it a crack as quite essential. The two of us less ‘nav savvy’, had already unanimously nominated the other poor soul as our “C.N.” – (Chief Navigator), which she graciously accepted. So we signed up for the four hour, Wicked Christmas Rogaine, out at Godley Heads, Sumner.

To our total relief, we did have another friend join our team, who was a  seasoned Spring Challenger and who knew how to read a map/compass. It was a fantastic day.  We all throughly enjoyed it and even made it back in time. Our “C.N.” felt a sense of relief as she got her head around it all, and I reckon us other two could possibly find our way out of the corner now if we really had to. If nothing else, we can certainly offer our support, be it useful or not – haha.

My stupid heel is still giving me grief. I have had an X-Ray. Marcus – our local osteopath phoned me up, “Lisa, the x-ray showed you have a 1mm bone spur”. I mean c’mon, seriously – W.T.F…!!!!!!!!! Are you kidding me? I know it’s not his fault it’s so small.  He assured me that they’re always telling women size doesn’t matter. I said Marcus – I beg to differ!! How does my body even know its there? Apparently, sometimes the smallest things can cause a lot of pain. Well it feels like it should be the size of a golf ball, just saying! I’m sick of the bloody thing reminding me daily it is there, and you’re probably sick of me going on about it, so I’m not saying anymore on it, unless I have a break through, to which I might throw a party! And you’ll definitely be hearing about it!

Anyway, a pick-me-up from finding out about my ridiculously small spur was our friends coming out from Canada whom we had not seen for 7½ years!  So it was pretty blimmin’ awesome, however not much exercising was done and the weather was below average, which was disappointing.  “Come out for a hot Kiwi summer” we said. I was just in catchup mode, as time was precious with them, and unfortunately exercise wasn’t getting a look in.

Week 32, However, it did get too much for me  and I did get out for an early Boxing Day run. Just a short stint around the block. I really enjoyed it, well mostly the first two kilometres, when my heel wasn’t hurting too much. It did feel great to have done something, but the next few days were spent hobbling around again.

Weeks 33 & 34, have consisted of beach, fishing, kids, family and friends oh and I let my hair down at a friends 40th at the weekend. Nothing quite like being with your  friends, a good party and a ‘few’ glasses of bubbles followed with hours of dancing to boost the soul. I felt slightly hungover the next morning, so I biked to pick the truck up, haha.  That too was good for the soul and clearing the headache!

Caught up for a coffee with Ray yesterday on his way through, and he’s got my week sorted for me.  Yikes I’m kinda out of routine, so can feel I’m going to have to be quite hard on myself to get back into one!!
