When I started to look for a coach for finishing an Ironman I looked Ray as I had already experienced his coaching and training style. We started with a phone consult where we discussed what my goals were how he ran his training for an event like this and what coaching package would best suit what I wanted to achieve so I went with the Team Qwik Kiwi. Ray understands the needs of life and can tailor your training around your individual needs, I work shift work on an 8 day week so training was written to suit this. As it is a long process to train for an Ironman Ray uploaded my training week by week and could tailor it to suit changes in my roster, fatigue levels, or if I had any injuries/or niggles. My intention was to do it once but I decided to carry on training for another year to complete Ironman twice along with a number of other events along the way including the Taupo 70.3 Half Ironman in 2017 and 2018.

When riding at a low cadence the muscle needs to generate more force to turn the pedals due to the greater resistance. By training at a low cadence we can do specific strength training whilst on the bike. This is great for all cyclists including triathletes and mountain bikers.
Hello blog followers and welcome to my article with a difference, where I tackle insomnia with the assistance of a Qwik Kiwi athlete by the name of Janne Falkner…
I promised myself I’d have a better week this week. I’d really get stuck in and make my ‘Training Peaks (TP) pie graph nice and green. Turn of events is seeming like this may not happen. I try not to let it get to me, but it is super frustrating, especially when you know you have an event coming up, but sometimes that’s just life.
I’ve left writing this blog till lunch time Friday, mainly as this week has been a bit of a washout so far! I missed my long run Monday, did flexibility Tuesday, missed my swim Wednesday. So what to write about!…
I have my two amazing daughters 50/50 with their dad and it’s hard. I miss them. They truly are my everything. I enjoy being a mum more than anything in this world and it’s the thing I am most proud of accomplishing in my entire life. When I was first thrown into this situation, it was very trying. The weeks without them seemed to take forever to go by. As time has gone on, I now look at the weeks without them as the weeks I can go ‘big’ on training.
