Thursday Training Plan – IronMaori

When you cross the finish line of an IronMaori event, you will have accomplished something very special.

Designed for beginner and intermediate triathletes who are looking to complete the Quarter IronMaori or the IronMaori Half, these plans will help you achieve your goals.

Crafted by myself, Ray Boardman PGDipSportsMed, PGDipRehab, PGCertSc (Exercise Science), BSc (Anatomy), DipSportsStudies this plan encapsulates my passion for the sport, my experience from completing dozens of Half and Full IRONMAN distance finishes and my success coaching hundreds of triathletes.

Being 20 weeks in duration (starting on Monday 22-June-20), this plan progresses through phases to build you to your peak performance in time for the Quarter IronMaori.

If you are doing the IronMaori Half the programme is 24 weeks long (also starting on Monday 22-June-20). It follows a more structured progression for any intermediate athletes but will build more progressively for beginner athletes preparing for both the Quarter and IronMaori Half.

Prior to using the beginner plan, you should be able to complete the following workouts:

  • Swim: 500 meters within a workout
  • Bike: 30min continuously
  • Run: 30min continuously
