Walk or run through the remote wilderness of the Oparara Valley in the sublime Kahurangi National Park in Karamea on the South Islands West Coast. The trail traverses a variety of stunning landscapes including rainforest, gravel and sealed roads, farmland and 35-million-year-old limestone caves, arches, and channels. The stunning birdlife and ancient rainforest set’s the scene for an invigorating and unforgettable experience in the wilderness.

Programmes designed for either beginner or intermediate athletes who are looking to complete either the 36km or 20km Oparara Wilderness Trail Run, these plans will help you achieve your goals.

Crafted by myself, Ray Boardman PGDipSportsMed, PGDipRehab, PGCertSc (Exercise Science), BSc (Anatomy), DipSportsStudies this plan encapsulates my passion for the sport, my experience from completing dozens of marathons and triathlons and my success coaching hundreds of athletes.

Being 16 weeks in duration (starting on Monday 07-March-22), these plans progresses through phases to build you to your peak performance in time for the Oparara Wilderness Trail Run.
