Monday’s with Jessica [Ep 28] – Race Plans

Moving into training that is focused on running and using biking and swimming as cross training, I am now working towards 2 events one at the end of October and one at the start of December.

The first one is the 11km distance which is the Auckland marathon event, using this distance isn’t as harsh as the 21km on my body and allows me to race it as a fast pace rather than cruise it.

I have been wanting to do this event as I have always wanted to cross the Harbour Bridge running and finally can do it.

The second event is apart of the New Zealand secondary schools athletics and road race, where I will be competing in the Senior 4km road race, this is a short distance for me and is at a very fast speed considering the distance and track.

Both of these events will have different race tactic both which I enjoy. Having the 2 different race distances and types allows me to look forward to 2 things. I have been eager to race for a while especially in the slightly longer distances so I can’t wait to train and race the 11km event at the end of October and am excited to see what progress I get through my altered training and how I end up at the final result.
