Book of the Month August – Going Long

The blurb states that Going Long is “the book you will return to season after season”, and that is very true, I do refer to it reasonably often when planning and preparing programmes for Ironman events.

Book of the Month June – Your Best Triathlon

Your Best Triathlon – Advanced Training for Serious Triathletes
Joe Friel’s writing style is easy to read and he explains training concepts concisely with examples that are easy for most triathletes to relate to.

Gene’s Ironman Journey: From Zero to Hero

12 months ago I decide to do an Ironman, the problem was, I couldn’t swim and didn’t own a bike. How hard can it really be? Initially, I decide to train myself, I jumped on the internet and downloaded a plan…easy as!
About two weeks in to “coaching” myself I realised there was more to it than just swimming, biking and running a few times randomly throughout a week. It was time to consult a professional.
I contacted Ray who had been recommended to me by a friend, this is when things really started to take shape.

Thursday Training Plan: Ironman or Open Water Swim PB

I’ve taken my most popular training plan and given it a make over for 2020. I’ve taken the 12 Weeks to an Ironman Swim PB – Swim Faster with Smarter Training and I’ve modified to to expand the programme from 12 weeks and include an option for more than 3 swims per week.

Summer’s Nearly Here, I’ve got Heaps of Time To Train For Ironman…..Yeah Right

I’ve signed up for Ironman when the entry fee was nice and cheap, but I didn’t do much over winter. Someone told me there were 18 weeks to go but that was a couple of weeks go. I’d better get my A into G and get this training thing sorted.

UltraHumps – Can Ya Do An Ironman…My Story!

I discovered Ironman simply by chance which I will describe in this blog, I was intrigued, in my mid-forties, but also over weight, high blood pressure, unfit, couldn’t swim, didn’t know how to use clip in shoes on a bike let alone know where the gears were in the brakes, ate crap food, drank to much alcohol and when I look back I was on a path of self destruction. So when I turned a leaf and signed up for my first Ironman ‘then’ decided to change my ways described above, people even told me or laughed in my face that I was kidding myself and couldn’t do an Ironman… This is my story to hopefully encourage others, Ironman motto after all is “Anything Is Possible”!
