As the title suggests it is my first triathlon of the year this coming weekend. Actually as you read this I would have already (hopefully) smashed it! Well I’m really excited about this race and I have reason for it….
Things are getting back on track with training. This week has gone pretty well. The only session I’ve missed is the swim. Looking at the calendar at the start of the week I was thinking how on earth am I…
2 weeks agoLong run for the weekend now done. It’s the first time I’ve ran around the airport. Some might say that it’s a @virgin run route for me first dusting of snow on the hills overnight too #qwikkiwi#coachray ♂️
1 day agoDots in the sky this morning - hot air balloons. Although overcast, it was a perfect morning for them with very little wind - at ground level anyway! This is the Wesley Wing Church - part of Aratoi Museum in Masterton. It is often on my run route and was again this afternoon. I did an hour long run in my endurance pace zone. As a result of a much improved recent 5km result, my pace zones have changed. I managed to be inzone for 81% of the run, which I was very happy with. . . . #hotairballoons#athlete
2 weeks agoGreat run this morning doing my rFTP running power test. Improved my 5km time 9% from 23:20 to 21:09 & my FTP 11% from 320 to 356 Watts all within 4 weeks of starting my programme to run a #sub3hr marathon #coachray#qwikkiwi
1 week agoRain, hail, snow or shine, Ray is running all the time. I don’t think I’m turning into a poet as that is the best I’ve got ♂️ good run this morning in my new power zones after Tuesday’s successful rFTPw test #coachray#qwikkiwi
7 days agoLegs are officially toast. With increasing my training zones after this week’s fitness test today’s long run was a step up in every regard. But I survived it. Now time to stretch and recover and get ready for this week’s training. #coachray#qwikkiwi
