Lisa’s Journey, Week 41: Is The Grass Greener On The Other Side…?

I promised myself I’d have a better week this week. I’d really get stuck in and make my ‘Training Peaks (TP) pie graph nice and green. Turn of events is seeming like this may not happen. I try not to let it get to me, but it is super frustrating, especially when you know you have an event coming up, but sometimes that’s just life.

I’ve found myself thinking a lot about running lately while out biking. So typical though, because I am unable to run at the moment, I want too! However I know that once my foot heals, I will have to start from the beginning again and I’m sure I’ll wonder what the hell it was I thought I was missing out on! It’ll be all good though. I’ve got events to revisit and hopefully do better at – if not this year, then next!

I’m still trying to get my workouts sorted. I’ve been told to ‘tone it down’. I do try, but often feel like I should be biking faster. I know – it’s all part of building up the fitness. I would like to reassure you Ray at this time, that your many years of training to help people such as myself are not wasted. I just need to constantly remind myself to trust in the process.

I think that’s why I love biking. I can go harder and faster and get further. With running it’s the complete opposite. If I go harder, I get more tired, and don’t get very far at all. But if I need to go slower, then I need to go slower. Maybe I will let my boy come along more often as I seem to stay ‘inzone’ when he’s with me.

And is the grass greener on the other side? I think that you can always admire someone else’s lawn, but if you water your own and take care of it, soon you stop looking over the fence, and realise you too can have a great lawn! Hope your weeks a good one! x

Courage is knowing it might hurt, and doing it anyway.

Stupidity is the same.

And that’s why life is hard…
