Mikes Middle Distance Magic: another week gone!

These weeks are flying by!  It only seems like yesterday I was writing last week’s article, which got me thinking that I best get the races booked for 2019.  After all it will soon be Christmas!

Before I started training with Ray I had my plans set on a few races so I wanted to share with you two of them that are firmly booked and paid for with no turning back!

First up is West Lanc’s Sprint Triathlon  on 14 April 2019. I have unfinished business with this race as last year I feel I didn’t do it justice!

The race is a 400m swim, 18.5k bike and a 5k run. Last year I struggled round in a time of 1:16. With consistent training and Ray’s planning and experience I’m hoping to get as close as possible to 1 hour, with a realistic time of 1:05 and a top 100 finish.

Next up is Southport standard distance triathlon on 19 May 2019. I’ve never entered an Olympic distance race before and this race is a qualifier for the British championships and is also on closed  roads, which I have never raced on either. So I thought It would be great experience and put me in good stead for the middle distance ‘A’ race later in the year.  I am still deciding which one that is going to be!

Anyway, booking these races was definitely what I needed.   There’s nothing like booking a race to get the mojo back and really spur on another weeks training.

Keep following me on Instagram at #qwikkiwi and here for next week’s blog.
